Egyptian Society for Animal Management

Animal welfare and five freedoms

In 1965, an inquiry into the welfare of farm animals was conducted in the UK. As a result of this inquiry, people were made aware of the need for animals to stand up, lie down, turn around, stretch and be able to groom. The council believes that the welfare of an animal should be considered with reference to ‘Five Freedoms’.

  • Freedom from hunger and thirst
  • Freedom from discomfort
  • Freedom from pain, injury and disease
  • Freedom to express normal behaviour
  • Freedom from fear and distress

The Egyptian Society for Animal Management is a scientific non-profit organization registered in 2003 with No. 1891, Giza , Egypt. It is located at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cairo University, Egypt
